( Figs. 5–8 View FIGURES 5–8 )

Type species. Morvanica demezi , here designated.

Etymology. The genus is named for Odette Morvan ( French Guiana), with the Latin suffix “- ica ” (belonging to), for her contribution to the knowledge of the Cerambycidae from French Guiana, with our friendship. Feminine gender.

Description. Body slender, cylindrical. Frons transverse. Antennal tubercles widely separated, in frontal view, moderately elevated. Upper eye lobes oblique toward antennal tubercles, moderately small; distance between them larger than triple width of one lobe. Lower eye lobes about as long as genae. Area of connection between eye lobes long, with single row of ommatidia. Antennae longer than body; scape wide, piriform; antennomere IV longer than III. Prothorax slightly longer than wide, distinct narrower than humeral width; sides slightly rounded, without tu- bercle. Pronotum without tubercles, gradually elevated from posterior third to anterior area. Elytra nearly parallelsided from humerus to posterior sixth; posterior sixth distinctly narrowed laterally and lower than remaining surface dorsally; with elongate, moderately elevated gibbosity centrally on dorsal anterior sixth; apex individually rounded; without long, erect setae. Femora fusiform.

Remarks. The only other known genus of Forsteriini with basal gibbosity on elytra is Saepiseuthes Thomson, 1868 , with two species known only from Chile. Morvanica gen. nov. differs from Saepiseuthes as follows: antennomere III slightly shorter than IV; sides of prothorax without lateral tubercle; elytra without erect setae. In Saepiseuthes , antennomere III is much shorter than IV, the prothorax has lateral tubercle, and the elytra have erect setae.

Morvanica gen. nov. can be included in the alternative of couplet “1” from Martins & Galileo (1989):
