Note. Ohaus (1898 a: 51) records Macraspis chalcea for the state of Espírito Santo in Brazil. Ohaus (1934: 154) refers to the older publication but gives the location Suriname rather than Brazil. As Espírito Santo lies over 2500 km from the Guianas and we are not aware of any recent records from Brazil, we assume that the location in Ohaus (1898 a) is erroneous, and that the mentioning of Suriname in Ohaus (1934) is a correction hereof. Whether this species possibly occurs in northern Brazil or is completely absent from this country requires further research.
