Material examined. MOVI 38685 (1, 275 mm SL), E-0506.

Diagnosis. Lateral line ends below dorsal fin origin; number of dorsal fin-rays 84, anal fin-rays 69, and vertebrae 51; dorsal rim of otolith evenly curved.

Distribution. Eastern Brazil, known from a single station off Bahia, from 1055 to 1173 m depth.

Remarks. The single known specimen belongs to a new species now under description.
