Material examined. Philippines: eastern coast of Luzon , AURORA 2007 cruise, stn. CP 2654, 16°04.74’N 121°57.50’E, 98–107 m, 20 May 2007: 1 male (10.3 x 6.9 mm) ( ZRC2008.0994 ) .— Stn. CP 2662, 15°46.70’N 121°40.70’E, 160–167 m, 21 May 2007: 1 male (16.4 x 12.5 mm) (NMCR).— Stn. CP 2712, 15°20.56’N 121°29.76’E, 139–140 m, 28 May 2007: 1 ovigerous female (14.9 x 10.0 mm) (MNHN- B31296).— Stn. CC 2746, 15°58.78’N 121°46.44’E, 182–220 m, 2 June 2007: 1 male (13.3 x 8.9 mm), 1 broken male (10.9 x 7.7 mm), 1 ovigerous female (19.5 x 13.7 mm) ( ZRC 2008.0995 ) .— Stn. CP 2747, 15°54.51’N 121°42.03’E, 120–124 m, 2 June 2007: 1 ovigerous female (16.9 x 12.3 mm) (NMCR).— Stn. Remarks. Latreillopsis bispinosa was described on the basis of material from the Challenger, a female from the island of Cebu in the Philippines. This species is common in muddy bottoms from 160 to 240 m in the Philippines. Guinot and Richer de Forges (1995) identified as L. bispinosa a large number of specimens collected by the MUSORSTOM cruises and separated some specimens having three subhepatic spines in place of two under the name of Latreillopsis bispinosa Henderson, 1888 , forme trispinosa nov. This name is not available under current zoological rules, and as such, we are describing a new species for this material below.
