Agrilus luzonicola sp. nov.

Description of holotype. Size: 10.6 mm. BODY. Shape: cuneiform; Build: robust; Color (dorsally): unicolored. HEAD. Size: very large; Medial impression: deep. Frons: Outline: markedly protruding head outline. Vertex: Sculpture elements: rugae; Sculpture aspect: arcuate. Eyes: Size: smaller than half width of vertex (dorsal view); Shape: markedly protruding head outline; Lower margin: in line or below antennal socket; Median orbit: converging ventrally. Antennae: Length: reach to about anterior pronotal angles; Serration: from antennomere 4. PRONOTUM. Shape: visually transverse; Sides: slightly arcuate; Maximal width: at middle; Anterior margin: wider than posterior. Anterior lobe: Development: obvious; Shape: arcuate; Width: broad; Position: projecting beyond anterior angles. Posterior angles: Shape: rectangular; Apex: sharp. Disk: Impressions: medial and lateral; Medial impression: posteromedial only; Lateral impressions (depth): deep; Lateral impressions (width): broad; Lateral impressions (modification): with tomentose patches. Prehumerus: Development: carinal; Shape: bisinuate; Extent: beyond 1/2 of pronotal length; Anterior end: joined with lateral carina; Posterior end: distant from posterior angle or margin; Arc: obvious. Prosternal lobe: Size: large; Position to sternum: markedly declivous; Distal margin: arcuately emarginate; Emargination (depth): deep; Emargination (width): wide. Prosternal process: Width: wide; Shape: subparallel; Sides: straight; Angles: obtuse; Disc: flat. Metasternum: Metasternal projection: flat. ABDOMEN. Tomentum: present. Last ventrite: Disk: with medial carinula. Sternal groove: Extent: on apical ventrite; Shape on apex of last ventrite: arcuate. LEGS. Metatarsus: Length to metatibia: distinctly shorter. Metarsomere 1: Length to following tarsomeres: longer than 2–3 but shorter than 2–4. GENITALIA. Ovipositor: Shape: markedly elongate.

Variability. Unknown. The species is known only from the female holotype.

Diagnosis. Agrilus luzonicola has elytral spots white like those at A. salakot , but tomentose patches in lateral pronotal impresions are yellow and wide (white and narrow at A. salakot ). See also key to species.

Type material. Type locality: Philippines, Luzon, Aurora, Sierra Madre Mts. Type specimens . Holotype ♀ ( EJCB): “ Philippines, E. Luzon, Sierra Madre, Aurora, v.2008, local collector”.

Distribution. Philippines (Luzon (Aurora province )).

Etymology. The specific name is a combination of Luzon (the island from the type locality) and the Latin verb colo (to dwell, inhabit).
