Sailerus Garbelotto & Campos gen. nov.

Type species: Alitocoris maculosus Sailer, 1950 , here designated.

Etymology. The name honors the late North American entomologist who described Alitocoris, Dr. Reece Ivan Sailer.

Description. Body oval, general color brown, punctures brown, usually confluent forming wrinkles. Antennae five-segmented. Gonocoxites VIII longer than wide, disc uniformly convex.

Head wider than long, declivous; vertex plain. Mandibular plates longer than clypeus, apart at apex, this round- ed and convergent; lateral margins reflected.Anteocular processes truncated. Antennal tubercles with a lateral spine. Antennae five-segmented. Ventrally with 1+1 carinae posterior to the eyes, concolor with the head. Bucculae with a small tooth on anterior angle, posteriorly evanescent. Labium reaching at least abdominal segment VI.

Pronotum wider than long, declivous. Cicatrices plain and punctured. Anterior margin concave; anterolateral margins slightly reflected; and posterior margin sinuous. Humeral angles not developed. Scutellum longer than wide, reaching connexival segment V; foveae black, flat and with punctures. Coria longer than scutellum. Pro-, meso-, and metapleura punctured, with yellowish maculae. Pro-, meso-, and metasternum black and punctured; prosternum furrowed, meso and metasternum with median carina. Mesopleural evaporatorium narrow following posterior margin of mesopleura; metapleural evaporatorium occupying half the width of metapleura, lateral margin subrectilinear; peritreme spout, reaching at least half the evaporatorium width. Tibiae dorsally sulcated; third segment of metatarsi dorsally depressed in females.

Connexivum exposed from segments III to VII. Abdomen with punctures, more concentrated on lateral margins, inconspicuous or absent on disc; longitudinal furrow shallow on median third from abdominal segment III to V. Trichobothria lateral to imaginary line tangential to spiracles; spiracles black, visible from abdominal segment II to VII.

Male. Unknown.

Female. Genitalia. Gonocoxites VIII longer than wide, disc uniformly convex. Laterotergites VIII triangular, spiracles visible and posterior to lateral angle of gonocoxites VIII. Gonocoxites IX with median suture. Laterotergites IX digitiform, not surpassing the apex of laterotergites VIII ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 21–27 ). Gonapophyses VIII and IX with folds bearing microsculptures ( Fig. 27 View FIGURES 21–27 ).

Remarks. Sailerus gen. nov. is monotypic and it is proposed based on the phylogeny of the Herrichella clade ( Garbelotto et al. 2013). Ali. maculosus grouped with Ala. rufitarsis with a single synapomorphy, the lateral half of posterior margin of gonocoxites VIII projected posteriorly (character 48(2) of Garbelotto et al. 2013,). Apart this synapomorphy, Ala. rufitarsis and Ali. maculosus present morphological differences ( Table 1 View TABLE 1 ), and classifying Ali. maculosus in Alatethus would lead to rather loose genus boundaries.

Distribution. Guatemala; Honduras.
