Alloeogyna ampla Garbelotto & Campos sp. nov.

( Figs 1 View FIGURE 1 ; 4 View FIGURES 2–5 ; 23 View FIGURES 21–27 )

Etymology. The name refers to the species size; Latin: ampla , large. Female Holotype: MEXICO, Quintana Roo State: Nyo, X can, 19.V.1984, E. C. Willing, [20.8667; -87.5958], Alitocoris sp., det. J. E. Eger, 2004 (JEE). (Deposited in: USNM)

Diagnosis. General color brown with black punctures and pale spots on body surface, except for the head ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 2–5 ). Ventrally with inconspicuous punctures. Antennae 4-segmented.

Head. Dark brown. Vertex slightly tumescent. Antennal tubercles black, partially covered by the anteocular processes. Antennae 4-segmented, first segment dark brown with light brown spot dorsally, segments II-IV light brown; proportion of antennal segments: I<II>III<IV, first the shortest and second the longest. Ventrally with 1+1 longitudinal carinae posterior to eyes, concolor with the surrounding surface. Labium yellowish, reaching the posterior margin of abdominal segment IV; proportion of labial segments: I<II>III≈IV.

Thorax. Pronotum with pale spots on lateral margins and posterior half; anterior margin and cicatrices brown. Anterior angles surpassing lateral margins of eyes by a little more than the ocellus diameter. Scutellum with medial pale spot on anterior margin and apex; punctures smaller and denser on margins of postfrenal lobe. Corium light brown with pale spots, reaching half of connexival segment VI; maculae at apex of radial vein inconspicuous. Membrane with seven veins, surpassing abdominal apex. Pro-, meso-, and metapleurae with pale spots on lateral margins, and few punctures. Metapleural evaporatorium black, peritreme light brown almost reaching the lateral margin of evaporatorium. Coxae, trochanters, and femora yellowish, tibiae and tarsi light brown to brown; femora with brown spots.

Abdomen. Connexival segments with median yellowish spot visible from segment V to VII, extending ventrally. Abdomen without punctures, disc velvety, trichobothria tubercles yellowish.

Female. Measurements (n=1): head length, 1.95; width, 2.39; pronotum length, 2.65; width, 5.86; scutellum length, 4.28; width, 3.34; length of the antennal segments: I, 0.75; II, 2.35; III, 1.35; IV, 1.75; length of the labium segments: I, 1.15; II, 1.95; III, 1.30; IV, 1.40; total length, 11.50; abdominal width, 6.60.

Genitalia. Genital plates entirely velvety. Gonocoxites VIII subrectangular, posterior margin slightly sinuous; calluses not reaching posterior margins, lateroposteriorly directed, with few wrinkles on posterior surface; surface between calluses and sutural margin large, equal to callus width; sutural margins expanded on apical 2/3; disc anteriorly to callus slightly convex ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 21–27 ). Gonocoxites IX projected between laterotergites IX; mesial margins of laterotergites IX juxtaposed on basal 2/3 ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 21–27 ).

Male. Unknown.

Remarks. Alloeogyna ampla sp. nov. is the largest species of Alloeogyna gen. nov., and differentiates from the other two species by the longitudinal carinae posterior to eyes, concolor with the surface, by the short labium reaching urosternite IV, and by the calluses and sutural margins of gonocoxites VIII less projected ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 21–27 ). This species was included as ‘sp. 15’ in the phylogeny of the Herrichella clade by Garbelotto et al. (2013).
