Distribution: Common in Brazil and Paraguay, reported from Guyana, possibly extending to Peru ( Dwyer 1951), it is found in all regions of Brazil but in the North only in Tocantins and Rondônia ( Flora do Brasil 2020). In ParNa Iguaçu it occurs in the Céu Azul and Foz do Iguaçu areas.

Reproductive period: It flowers between November and February and fruits predominantly from May to October ( Souza & Sanches 2016). In ParNa Iguaçu it was found with fruits in March and June.

Diagnostic characteristics: Trees with pinnate leaves easily recognized by their translucent dots on the leaflets, apetalous flowers and orbicular fruit with one seed having a fleshy, orangish aril.

Conservation: Native-NE.
