Eucerinoda gayi (Spinola) View in CoL
The male of this species has strongly modified hind legs and yellow areas on clypeus and on the lower paraocular area. The female has the tibial scopa with yellow pilosity and some plumose and simple hairs intermixed. The metasoma has distal bands of white and branched pilosity from T2 to T5. T1 has the same pilosity, but only at the sides of the tergum. T6 completely covered with white pilosity. Michener & Moure (1957) presented a full description of both sexes of this species, including illustrations of the male genitalia. In the literature, it is possible to find records of this species in the Region of Valparaíso ( Toro 1986; Urban et al. 2007) and Santiago ( Urban et al. 2007) . These two areas have experienced an explosive development in the last 50 years, which probably affected the diversity of bees in these two sectors. Despite having reviewed several bee collections in Chile and of having carried out a number of collections in areas where there are records of this species, this bee has not been collected again.
The only floral record known of this species is Cynara cardunculus L. ( Asteraceae ), according to information contained in a female exemplar deposited at DZUP. There are no data available about cleptoparasites and/or natural enemies.
