20. Lychnophora spiciformis Loeuille & Siniscalchi View in CoL in Siniscalchi et al. (2016: 49). Type:— BRAZIL. Bahia : Ibicoara, Chapada Diamantina, Estrada para Cachoeira do Buracão, área com elevações, sob linha de transmissão elétrica, 13°23’45.97’’S, 41°13’51.33’’W, 1032 m, 1 May 2013, C.M. Siniscalchi & C.T. Oliveira 349 (holotype: SPF [SPF239900]; isotypes: UEC, US).

Distribution and habitat: — Brazil ( Bahia , restrict to Ibicoara region). Campo rupestre.

Taxonomic notes: —Known from only two collections. Lychnophora spiciformis superficially resembles L. souzae Robinson (1980b: 104) by its slender habit and pseudoterminal congested spike-like inflorescence. Nonetheless, L. souzae differs by a syncephalium as unit of the inflorescence (vs. head or glomerule of heads), outer pappus setose (vs. paleaceous) and obtriangular pad-like leaf sheath (vs. leaf sheath absent). Due the presence of a leaf sheath, L. souzae is not placed in Lychnophora in the present work but the Incertae Sedis section.
