Diagnosis. The species is characterized by the feebly prominent styli on the male ninth gonocoxite and by the gonarcus (fused gonocoxites 11) with a bifurcate process.

Description. Male. Forewing length 7.5–8.0 mm.

Head subquadrate, black, clypeus yellowish brown, vertex laterally with two pairs of indistinct brownish cuneate markings and medially with a pair of brownish vittae. Antennal sclerite (torulus), scape, and pedicel yellow; flagellum pale brown. Mouthparts yellowish brown.

Thorax blackish brown; anterior half of pronotum medially with a pair of narrow, hook-like, brownish markings; meso- and metanota each with a yellowish marking anteromedially, and with a yellowish transverse marking on posterior margin of scutellum. Legs yellow with yellowish setae. Wings hyaline, pterostigma brown, veins pale brown. Anterior branch of Rs with one forked vein and one simple vein running to wing margin.

Abdomen blackish brown, venter much paler; each pregenital segment with a yellowish transverse marking on posterior margins of tergite and sternite; ninth segment with yellow posterior margin gonocoxite brown, ectoproct yellow. Ninth gonocoxite ( Figs. 29–31 View FIGURES 29 – 37 ) shell-like, nearly semicircular, slightly wider than long; subdistal portion of inner side dorsally with a blunt stylus bearing a bristle tuft, an additional bristle tuft lies anteriorly to the stylus, and a few bristles are present ventrally on posterior margin. Pseudostyli (basal parts of gonapophyses 9) ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 29 – 37 ) paired and foliate. Fused parameres (complex of fused gonocoxites, gonapophyses, and gonostyli 10) ( Figs. 31, 33 View FIGURES 29 – 37 ) small, proximal portion flattened and roundly expanded, distal projection slightly curved dorsad with concave tip. Gonarcus (fused gonocoxites 11) ( Figs. 30–32 View FIGURES 29 – 37 ) shield-like, dorsal margin produced posteriad, in caudal view subtriangular, medially with a bifurcate projection.

Endophallus ( Figs. 30–31 View FIGURES 29 – 37 ) short, distal portion medially with a pair of bristle tufts directed dorsad and additionally two or four bristles directed ventrad. Ectoproct ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 29 – 37 ) subquadrate in lateral view. Hypandrium internum ( Fig. 34 View FIGURES 29 – 37 ) small, lobes considerably narrow.

Female. Forewing length 9.0–12.0 mm.

Seventh sternite ( Figs. 35–36 View FIGURES 29 – 37 ) subtrapezoidal in lateral view, posteriorly produced; in ventral view posterior margin arcuately incised medially, forming a pair of small subtriangular processes. Subgenitale ( Figs. 35–36 View FIGURES 29 – 37 ) small, suboval. Ectoproct ( Fig. 35 View FIGURES 29 – 37 ) subquadrate in lateral view, slightly wider than long in lateral view. Atrium bursae ( Fig. 36 View FIGURES 29 – 37 ) slightly pointed dorsad; sacculus bursae tubular; receptaculum seminis long, with a pair of slender tubular glandula receptaculi distad.

Distribution. China (Beijing, Fujian Prov., Henan Prov., Shanxi Prov., Shaanxi Prov.). Biogeographically, I. fujiana probably represents a Manchurian faunal element of the Ussurian secondary refugial center with a remarkable expansion. However, it is possible that the species will turn out as a polycentric Manchurian- Sinopacific faunal element, if the gap between the northern records and the type locality in the south can be corroborated.

Remarks. The species was originally described by Yang (1999) based on a single male specimen collected from Fujian Province in the southeastern part of China. Unfortunately, the genitalia of the holotype are missing, at present. However, based on the original illustration of the male genitalia, the identity of this species can be validly determined by the remarkable gonarcus having a bifurcate process. In the collection of CAU, we found a great number of Inocellia specimens collected from several localities of northern China, which possess male genitalia quite similar to that of the holotype, so that we identified these specimens to be I. fujiana and provide a redescription of the male, as well as the first description of the female. The geographic variation of the male genitalia is also documented ( Figs. 38–42 View FIGURES 38 – 43 ). Thus, I. fujiana is herein recognized to be widely distributed from southeastern China to northern China, while it might be quite rare in southeastern China because no specimens other than the holotype have been found there.

Regarding the male genitalic structures, I. fujiana appears to be closely related to a recently described species, I. shinohara , due to the similarity of the gonarcus having a bifurcate process. Inocellia fujiana can be distinguished from I. shinohara by the feebly prominent styli of the male ninth gonocoxite. In I. shinohara , the male ninth gonocoxite possesses a pair of long and acutely pointed styli on its inner portions (U. Aspöck et al. 2009).
