Seriaster regularis Jangoux, 1984
Seriaster regularis Jangoux, 1984: 284 ; A. M. Clark 1993: 191; Kogure & Kaneko 2010: 97.
Comments. Measurements of specimens below were taken from what appeared to be the longest (and most undamaged) arm.
Relatively little variation was observed between observed populations with color, arm number, furrow spines and paxillar spines appearing consistently within the range outlined by the original description by Jangoux (1984). This is consistent with observations made by Kogure & Kaneko (2010) for S. regularis recorded from Okinawa. Specimens observed throughout this species’ range demonstrate two or three regenerating arms which are consistent with the observation by Jangoux (1986) that this species is fissiparous and can reproduce asexually.
