Type host: Luscinia luscinia (Linnaeus) ( Passeriformes : Muscicapidae ). Type locality: Slovakia

FEMALE (holotype and 10 paratypes). Total body length 455–465. Gnathosoma . Infracapitulum punctate. Each medial branch of peritremes with 1 chamber, each lateral branch with 4–5 chambers. Stylophore apunctate, 120 long. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield weakly sclerotized, with concave anterior margin, constricted on posterior margin, punctate, bearing bases of setae ve, si and c1. Setae ve and si subequal in length. Setae c1 and se subequal in length. Setae se situated slightly anterior to level of setae c1. The length ratio of setae d2:c1 1:1.1–1.2. Hysteronotal shield fused to pygidial shield, weakly sclerotized in middle part, apunctate. Setae f2 1.4–2 times longer than f1. Setae h2 about 6.5 times longer than f2. Genital plate absent. Both pairs of genital setae subequal in length. Aggenital setae agl and ag2 subequal in length, ag3 1.5–1.7 times longer than ag2. All coxal fields punctate. Setae 3c about 2.5 times longer than 3b. Legs. Fan-like setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 7–9 tines. Setae tc” of tarsi III and IV 1.3–1.4 times longer than tc’ III–IV. Lengths of setae: ve 15–20, si 15–20, se 145–165, c1 160–165, c2 145–165, d1 15–20, d2 125–145, e2 15 –20, f1 20–25, f2 35–45, h1 20–25, h2 290, ps1 15–20, g1 25–35, g2 25, agl 90–115, ag2 90–115, ag3 140–155, tc’III–IV 35–40, tc”III–IV 50–55, 3b 30–40, 3c 80–90.

MALE (1 paratype). Total body length 350. Gnathosoma . Infracapitulum punctate. Each medial branch of peritremes with 1 chamber, each lateral branch with 5 chambers. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield constricted posteriorly, bearing bases of setae ve, si and c1, apunctate. Hysteronotal shield absent. Setae d1, d2 and e2 subequal in length. Pygidial shield present, restricted only to genito-anal region. Setae h2 2.3 times longer than f2. Genital setae g1 situated slightly anterior to level of setae g2. Aggenital setae ag2 1.5 times longer than ag1. Coxal fields I–IV sparsely punctate. Setae 3c twice as long as 3b. Legs: Setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 5–6 tines. Setae tc” of tarsi III and IV 1.5 times longer than tc’ III–IV. Lengths of setae: ve 10, si 10, c1 15, c2 15, se 15, d1 10, d2 10, e2 10, f2 15, h2 35, ag1 40, ag2 25, tc’ III–IV 20, tc”III–IV 30, 3b 15, 3c 30.

Type material examined. Luscinia luscinia (Linnaeus) ( Passeriformes : Muscicapidae ): female holotype and paratypes: 12 females, 1 male, 8 nymphs ( AMU –SYR.33) (sec.); SLOVAKIA, 25 May 1963, coll. T. Weisz.

Type material deposition. All material deposited in the AMU, except 1 female paratype in the ZISP and 1 female paratype in the SMB .

Host range and habitat. Monoxenous species inhabiting quills of secondary feathers of Luscinia luscinia .

Distribution. Slovakia.
