Type host: Ficedula hypoleuca (Pallas) ( Passeriformes : Muscicapidae ). Type locality: Poland.

FEMALE (holotype and 8 paratypes). Total body length 825–915. Gnathosoma . Infracapitulum apunctate. Hypostomal apex with 2 pairs of protuberances. Each medial branch of peritremes with 4–5 chambers, each lateral branch with 9–10 chambers. Length of apunctate stylophore and movable cheliceral digit 160–180 and 120–125 respectively. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield sculptured and apunctate, bearing bases of setae vi, ve, si and c1. Length ratio of setae vi:ve:si 1:1:3.5. Setae se situated anterior to level of setae c1. Hysteronotal shields present. Pygidial shield present, apunctate, anterior margin indiscernible. Genital setae shorter than aggenital setae ag1 and ag3. Length ratio of setae g1:ag2 1:1. Setae ag1 more than twice as long as ag2. Coxal fields I–IV apunctate. Setae 3c twice as long as 3b. Legs. Fan-like setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 10–12 tines. Setae tc”III–IV 1.4–1.5 times longer than tc’ III–IV. Apodemes I fused to apodemes II in middle part of apodemes II. Lengths of setae: vi 45–55, ve 45– 55, si 175–190, se 250–290, c1 220–245, c2 215–290, d1 180–210, d2 165–245, e2 170–210, f1 55–100, f2 325– 370, h1 40–60, h2 385–420, ps1 25–45, ps2 25–40, g1 80–90, g2 65, ag1 210–245, ag2 85–90, ag3 265–315, l’RIII 30–45, l’RIV 40–50, tc’III–IV 50–60, tc”III–IV 75–80, 3b 50–60, 3c 120–140.

MALE (7 paratypes). Total body length 620–645. Gnathosoma . Hypostomal apex with pair of short and bluntended protuberances. Each medial branch of peritremes with 4–5 chambers, each lateral branch with 8–12 chambers. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield apunctate, not concave on anterior margin, bearing bases of setae vi, ve, si and c1, setae se situated on or near this shield. Length ratio of setae vi:ve:si 1:1:3.5. Setae se situated anterior to level of c1. Hysteronotal shield fused to pygidial shield, with concave anterior margin. Setae d2 1.5 times longer than e2 or both setae subequal in the length. Setae f2 5–6 times shorter than h2. Coxal fields I–IV punctate. Setae 3c about twice as long as 3b. Legs. Fan-like seta p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 10–11 tines. Setae tc’ of legs III and IV slightly shorter (1.2 times) than tc”III–IV. Lengths of setae: vi 30–35, ve 30–40, si 110–150, se 130–150, c1 100– 115, c2 140–150, d1 30, d2 35–60, e2 25 –35, f2 35–45, h2 215–235, ag1 145–150, ag2 45–60, ag3 80–95, l’RIII 30–35, l’RIV 30, tc’III–IV 40–45, tc”III–IV 50–60, 3b 35–55, 3c 80–105.

Type material examined. Ficedula hypoleuca (Pallas) ( Passeriformes : Muscicapidae ): female holotype and paratypes: 10 females, 13 males, 30 nymphs and 4 larvae ( AMU –SYR.20A) (sec.); POLAND, Zachodniopomorskie, Darlowko Wschodnie, Bukowo-Kopan , 20 April 1999, coll. M. Skoracki.

Type material deposition. Holotype deposited in the AMU, paratypes in the AMU, SNM and ZISP.

Non-type material examined. Type host species: 27 females, 5 males, 23 nymphs and 1 larva ( AMU – SYR.20B) (sec.); SLOVAKIA, Zborov , 17 April 1975, coll. T. Weisz. Material deposited in the AMU and ZISP . Ficedula parva (Bechstein) (Muscicapidae) : 8 females, 6 males and 5 nymphs ( AMU –SYR.30A) (sec.); POLAND, Zachodniopomorskie, Swinoujscie , April 2001, coll. G. Kiljan. Material deposited in the AMU and ZISP . Same host species: 2 females ( AMU –SYR.30B) (sec.); ROMANIA, Nemira , 26 May 1970, coll. T. Weisz. Material deposited in the AMU . Phoenicurus phoenicurus (Linnaeus) (Muscicapidae) : 10 females, 4 males, 15 nymphs and 1 larva ( AMU –SYR.184) (sec.); JORDAN, Al-Dhleil near Amman, 12 March 2002, coll. M. Skoracki. Material deposited in the AMU and ZISP .

Host range habitat. Oligoxenous species inhabiting quills of secondary feathers of muscicapid ( Muscicapidae ) species: Ficedula hypoleuca , F. parva and Phoenicurus phoenicurus .

Distribution. Slovakia, Poland, Romania and Jordan.
