Type material examined. Passer montanus (Linnaeus) ( Passeriformes : Passeridae ): female holotype and paratypes: 30 females, 4 males and 6 nymphs ( AMU –SYR.16) (sec.); SLOVAKIA, Bardejov , 24 February 1957, coll. T. Weisz.

Type material deposition. Holotype deposited in the AMU; paratypes in the AMU, SMB, ZISP.

Host range and habitat. Monoxenous species inhabiting quills of secondary feathers of Passer montanus .

Distribution. Slovakia.

Remarks. This species was originally described from Passer montanus from Slovakia and there are no other data since the original description. The congeneric species S. minor , was also recorded from Passer montanus and is widely distributed on other hosts of the genus Passer . It is possible that S. montanus could have moved from an unknown passerine species and its presence on Passer montanus is accidental.
