Range:— Colombia to Guianas and Argentina; in Bolivia in BE, CH, CO, LP, PA, SC.
Ecology:— Common; terrestrial in humid and semihumid forests, usually in open sites such as roadsides or forest edges; to 1400(–2100) m.
Notes:— Variable in size, pubescence of petioles and rachises (glabrous to densely glandular-pubescent), and pinna shape (pinnae as long as broad to>5 times longer than broad); a possible species complex, or hybridization may be occurring with other species. Long-petioled, gland-bearing plants with short pinnae have been called Blechnum delicatum (type from Bolivia), but are here considered to fall within the range of variability of B. asplenioides .
