Range:— Mountains from southern Mexico to Venezuela and Bolivia (CO), Brazil.
Ecology:— Rare; terrestrial in humid forests near streams; 2000–2900 m. Like many other species of Blechnaceae , this one has hydathodes that serve to secrete water when uptake through the roots is very strong. They were studied in detail in A. lehmannii by Sperry (1983).
