Atractides (Atractides) cf. tenuipalpis Lundblad, 1969

( Figs. 14A–D View FIGURE 14 A – D )

Material. THAILAND: unnamed creek crossing track from watchtower, Khao Yai NP 11.xi.2007, 14° 27.533 N 101° 20.386 E, leg. Smit, 0/1/0 (0/1/0 mounted).

Morphology. General features. Integument dorsally striated. Muscle attachment plates unsclerotized. Genital field: Ac in triangular arrangement; excretory pore smooth; Vgl-1 separated from Vgl-2. Palp with a weak sexual dimorphism; P-2 ventral margin straight, sword seta of P-4 between ventral hair insertions. I- Leg: setae S-1 and -2 long, narrow setal interspace, S-1 slender, truncated at tip, S-2 slightly enlarged in the middle, with pointed tip; I-Leg-6 slender, slightly thickened basally, distally narrowed.

Female: Idiosoma L/W 663/519. Coxal field ( Fig. 14A View FIGURE 14 A – D ): L 256, Cx-3 W 297, Cx-1+2 Ml 88, Cx-1+2 lL 184. Palp ( Fig. 14C View FIGURE 14 A – D ): total L 234, dL and %L (in parentheses): P-1 23 (9.8), P-2 47 (20.1), P-3 55 (23.5), P-4 82 (35.0), P-5 27 (11.5); L P-2/P-4 0.57. Genital field ( Fig. 14B View FIGURE 14 A – D ): L 118, genital plate 67-71, L Ac-1-3: 24: 24- 27: 27.

I-Leg ( Fig. 14D View FIGURE 14 A – D ): I-Leg-5 dL 129, vL 100, dL/vL 1.29, HB 42, dL/HB 3.1, S-1 L 96, L/ W 12.6, S-2 L 92, L/ W 10.0, distance of sword setae at I-Leg-5 8, L S-1/2 1.04; I-Leg-6 L 108, HB 13, L/HB 8.3; L I-Leg-5/6 1.19.

Remarks. Due to the similar shape of palp (weak sexual dimorphism of P-2) and I-Leg (setae S-1 and -2 long, with short setal interspace, S-1 slender, truncated at tip, S-2 slightly enlarged in the middle, with pointed tip; I-Leg-6 slender, slightly thickened basally and narrowed distally), the specimens from Thailand show general conformity with Atractides tenuipalpis Lundblad, 1969 from Burma. However, due to the fact that we do not have male specimens, this is only a tentative assignment based mainly on the approved non-identity with the alternative species.

Distribution. Burma ( Lundblad 1969). New for Thailand.
