Triplocania pericosensis View in CoL n. sp. Male

( Figs 253–258 View FIGURES 253 – 258 )

Diagnosis. Central sclerite of hypandrium with two well sclerotized, pointed, postero-lateral processes, and a bilobed, wide median posterior process ( Fig. 257 View FIGURES 253 – 258 ); phallosome Y-shaped anteriorly, with side struts stout; anterior endophallic sclerites with inner arms straight, slender and distally acuminate; outer arms bow-shaped. Mesal sclerite X-shaped, with arms acuminate; anterior ones shorter than the posterior ones ( Fig. 258 View FIGURES 253 – 258 ). External parameres distally wide, bearing pores, with the outer border sclerotized, rugose. It belongs in a group that includes T. amacayacuensis n. sp., T. bubuae n. sp., T. garciamarquezi n. sp., T. rugosa n. sp., and T. yanacona n. sp., differing from them in details of the hypandrium, phallosome and forewing pigmentation pattern.

Color (in 80% ethanol). Body pale brown. Compound eyes brown; ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents. Head pattern ( Fig. 255 View FIGURES 253 – 258 ); postclypeus brown, with dark brown V-shaped area; genae dark brown; antennae brown, flagellomeres distally creamy; maxillary palps pale brown, Mx4 dark brown, Mx2 and Mx3 distally dark brown. Thorax brown, tergal lobes of meso- and metathorax with cream spots. Tibiae and tarsi pale brown, coxae, trochanters and femora cream, coxae with two brown spots, basally and apically; femora with three to four brown spots, basal, middle and apical, two median on posterior femora. Forewing pattern ( Fig. 253 View FIGURES 253 – 258 ), pterostigma with proximal and distal dark brown bands. Abdomen pale cream. Hypandrium brown, clunium, paraprocts and epiproct pale brown; phallosome dark brown.

Morphology. As in diagnosis, plus the following: Head ( Fig. 255 View FIGURES 253 – 258 ): H/MxW: 1.64; H/D: 2.25, IO/MxW: 0.53, MxW/IO: 3.03. Vertex slightly emarginate, slightly below the level of the compound eyes. Outer cusp of lacinial tips broad, with four broad denticles. Mx4/Mx2: 1.31. Forewings ( Fig. 253 View FIGURES 253 – 258 ): L/W: 2.58, pterostigma: lp/wp: 4.19; areola postica high, la/ha: 2.09, distal part of Cu1a with gentle concavity. Hindwings ( Fig. 254 View FIGURES 253 – 258 ): l/w: 3.03. Hypandrium ( Fig. 257 View FIGURES 253 – 258 ), side sclerites small, projected posteriorly. Phallosome ( Fig. 258 View FIGURES 253 – 258 ). Paraprocts oval ( Fig. 256 View FIGURES 253 – 258 ), with abundant medium and short setae in the apical third; with a macroseta near each sensory field, another near the outer margin of the apical third; sensory fields with 24 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Epiproct wide, semioval, with widely rounded apex ( Fig. 256 View FIGURES 253 – 258 ), with mesal field of three macrosetae, some medium sized setae lateral to these, posterior margin with a field of small setae.
