OTHER REPORTED NAMES: Ampharete grubei Malmgren, 1866 .

REMARKS: This species was previously the only Ampharete species reported for the Adriatic Sea. Based on personal findings from the region, where all Ampharete specimens (including the ones reported as A. acutifrons in Mikac et al. 2011 and Musco et al. 2011) were actually revealed to belong to A. lindstroemi Hessle, 1917 , I assume that previous A. acutifrons from the Adriatic were possibly confused with A. lindstroemi and that species might be absent from the region. Parapar (1993) questioned the presence of A. acutifrons in the Mediterranean.
