Type material: Holotype: ♀, Dominican Republic, Pedernales, Rabo de Gato Lagoon, Parque Nacional da Serra de Baoruco [18°07’N, 71°25°W], 4 July 2012, Team CarBio leg. ( NMNH).

Paratypes: DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: 2♀, Pedernales, Rabo de Gato, Saton de Baoruco, 3 July 2012, Team CarBio leg. ( NMNH).

Etymology. The specific name is a noun and refers to the type locality.

Diagnosis. Females of N. baoruco sp. nov. are distinguished from those of the other species of the genus by the median septum triangular ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 20 − 25. 20 − 22 ) and by the spermathecae inverted U-shaped, with outer lateral margin with indentations ( Figs 24−25 View FIGURES 20 − 25. 20 − 22 ). Males are unknown.

Description. Female (NMNH, holotype): Prosoma yellow with brown margins, dark brown fovea and dark brown lines extending posteriorly from between PME and PLE and concentrically from fovea on thoracic region. Chelicerae orange. Legs and pedipalps orange. Leg tibiae with few black spots. Sternum pale yellow with pale brown margins. Endites pale orange, distally cream colored. Labium orange, distally cream colored. Opisthosoma gray; dorsally with brown pattern of irregular marks on anterior half and chevron like marks on posterior half. Total length 5.7. Prosoma: 2.7 long, 2.4 wide. Opisthosoma: 3.0 long, 2.0 wide. Eyes: diameters: 0.18, 0.17, 0.11, 0.16; interdistances: 0.15, 0.10, 0.28, 0.22, 0.14, 0.07. Legs (4213): I: 7.9 (2.4, 1.2, 2.1, 1.7, 0.5); II: 8.1 (2.5, 1.2, 2.1, 1.8, 0.5); III: 6.9 (2.3, 1.1, 1.5, 1.5, 0.5); IV: 8.6 (2.5, 1.1, 2.0, 2.3, 0.7). Epigyne: epigynal field roughly squared, as long as wide; anterior rim divided; median septum almost two times wider than long with anterior margin straight and posterior margin strongly procurved ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 20 − 25. 20 − 22 ). Vulva: glandular projections short, rounded, with wide base ( Figs 24−25 View FIGURES 20 − 25. 20 − 22 ).

Male: unknown.

Variation. Females (n = 3): total length 5.5−6.6; prosoma length 2.7−3.3; femur I length 2.4−2.7.

Distribution. Only known from the type locality (Map 2).
