Material examined. MAURIT-0911, stn MUDR05 : 18º08´43”N, 16º35´42”W, 421 m, 8-XII-2009: one colony, on bryozoan, without gonothecae .

Biology. This species has been reported growing mainly on other hydroids and rocks, algae and other invertebrates ( Peña Cantero & García Carrascosa 2002; Migotto & Cabral 2005). Fertile material has been found during the austral summer in the Seychelles ( Millard & Bouillon 1973) and Brazil ( Migotto & Cabral 2005).

The colony studied by us was found on a bryozoan.

Distribution. Cirrholovenia tetranema is a circumglobal species ( Calder 1991; Peña Cantero & García Carrascosa 2002); its geographical distribution was sumarised by Migotto & Cabral (2005). In West Africa, it was collected from Morocco ( Ramil & Vervoort 1992) and Mauritania ( Gil & Ramil 2017a). The bathymetric distribution ranges from 1 to 1062 m ( Calder 1991; Calder & Vervoort 1998).

Our material was collected from a depth of 421 m.
