( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 7 – 11. 7 )

Description. Head with reddish-brown integument. Frons wider than long, with sparse whitish pubescence. Vertex punctate; band of yellowish-orange pubescence on the perimeter of eyes. Upper ocular lobes with nine rows of ommatidia, separated by a distance equal to four rows of ommatidia. Antennae reach elytral apices, about the middle of antennomere VIII. Scape reddish-brown, a little longer than antennomere III.

Prothorax with reddish-brown integument. Pronotum covered by whitish pubescence with three longitudinal bands of yellowish-orange pubescence: one central and one on each side. Sides of prothorax with central band of yellowish-orange pubescence. Scutellum covered by yellowish-orange pubescence.

Elytra with reddish-brown integument; each with three dorsal, parallel, longitudinal bands of yellowish-orange pubescence, with the two closest to suture united before the apex; a band with the same pubescence close to margin; a patch of whitish pubescence, and a transverse spot, beyond the middle, reaching the lateral margin, but not the suture. Elytral punctation from base to beyond the middle. Elytral apices obliquely truncate.

Femora with reddish-brown integument, with yellowish-orange pubescence on dorsal face. Tibiae with yellowish pubescence. Metatarsomere V longer than I-III combined.

Ventral face with reddish-brown integument covered by whitish pubescence. Yellowish-orange pubescence on mesepimera and metepisterna, longitudinal band on sides of metasternum and on sides of urosternites I and II.

Measurements, in mm. Total length, 8.1; prothorax length, 1.5; prothorax width, 1.3; elytron length, 6.2; humeral width, 2.3.

Etymology. The specific name is in homage to Luis J. Joly, Universidad Central de Venezuela, Museo del Instituto de Zoología Agrícola, Maracay.

Type-material. Holotype male, VENEZUELA, Aragua: Rancho Grande, (1100 m), 30. VI.1980, A. Chacon col. (MIZA).

Discussion. Rosalba jolyi sp. nov. is distinguished, according to the description of R. recta ( Thomson, 1868) , by the continuous elytral bands and by the transverse patches of white pubescence situated beyond beyond the middle. In R. recta , “vittis longitud. ochraceis 8 irregularibus aliq. interruptis, fasciisque 2 transversis ejusdem coloris ad 4am partem posteriorem sitis”, then the yellowish elytral bands are interrupted and the two transverse ones, of the same color, are situated on the apical fourth.
