Type material

Not studied. This species was revised by Geginat (2008: 125) with presentation of a photo of the male genitalia.

Material examined

ETHIOPIA: 1 ³, Oromia, Bale Mts, brook valley above Goba, alt. 3750–3800 m, 06°54′42″ N, 39°54′38″ E, 19 Feb. 2017 ( CSCHM).

Identification

Within the Trechus fauna of the Oromia region, this species is easily recognizable based on the combination of the following characters: body length above 5 mm, eyes markedly flat and small, tempora slightly longer than eyes, pronotal base almost straight with laterobasal angles large, rectangular, two protarsomeres of male dilated, aedeagal median lobe simply narrowed towards apex.

Distribution

Probably endemic to the northern slope of the Bale Mts. The vertical distribution of the species ranges from approximately 3750 m to 4150 m.
