Recognition Characters. Robust; elongate oval acuminate; elytral stria

broad and deep with broad, clavate, decumbent, ocherous scales; intervals clothed with narrow, elongate, decumbent, ocherous scales. Feeble transverse ochroleucus macula past midpoint of elytra. Rostrum gradually emerging from head, half as long as body. Pro and meta femur with moderate tooth, mesofemoral tooth small or lacking; profemur with long beard of setae.

Description. Male. Length: 8.6 mm. Width: 4.2 mm. Head. Broad, rounded; derm fuscous; punctures small; clothed with short, narrow, decumbent ocherous scales; eyes large, round, finely faceted; frons 0.23 as broad as head across eyes, slightly narrower than base of rostrum; clothed with narrow, elongate, decumbent, ocherous scales; interocular fovea lacking. Rostrum. Length: 4.7–4.8 mm (mean 5 4.75), 0.55 as long as body; derm fuscoferruginous; cylindrical, broad at base, gradually tapering to apex; gradually emerging from head, very slightly impressed between frons and rostrum; two dorsolateral sulci from frons to antennal insertion; slightly arced; scape lateral, inserted past midpoint. Antennae. Length: Scape 2.4 mm; funicular segment one 0.5 mm, two 0.6 mm, three 0.3 mm, four 0.3 mm, five 0.2 mm, six 0.3 mm, seven 0.30 mm; club: 0.6 mm; funicle 2.5 mm; scape 0.96 as long as funicle; derm fuscoferruginous; clothed with elongate, decumbent, ocherous scales; club oval compact, clothed with fine velvety pile with a few erect setae, as long as funicular segments five through seven combined. Thorax. Length: 2.70 mm. Width: 3.10–3.20 mm (mean 5 3.15 mm); 0.88 as long as broad; derm fuscorufous; disc convex in lateral view, punctures small; uniformly clothed with elongate, decumbent, ocherous scales; base arched but not sinuous; sides broadly rounded to constriction; pro­, meso­, metasternum clothed with ocherous scales; mesosternal intercoxal process prominent; scutellum small, ocherous, longer than broad. Elytra. Length: 5.7 mm; derm fuscorufous; striae broad, deep with deep punctures having broad, clavate, decumbent, ocherous scales emerging from punctures; humeri prominent, round­ ed; intervals broad, flat with narrow, elongate, decumbent, ocherous scales; feeble fascia of narrow elongate clavate decumbent ochroleucus scales past midpoint; disc convex in lateral view; cross hatched setae short and ocherous. Legs. Length of hind femur 3.7– 3.8 mm (mean 5 3.75 mm), not exceeding apex of abdomen, tooth medium, wedge shaped; derm fuscorufous; profemur with medium tooth, acute and long ventral beard; mesofemur with small tooth and short ventral beard; all femora clothed with narrow, elongate, decumbent, ocherous scales; hind tibia sinuous; pro­, meso­ and metauncus as long as or longer than tarsal claw. Abdomen. Derm fuscorufous; second abdominal sternite longer than first behind coxal cavities, ascending to three; third as long as second; fifth sternite emarginate at apex; all sternites uniformly clothed with narrow elongate decumbent ocherous scales. Pygidium . Moderate in size; clothed with elongate ocherous setae.

Plant Associations. Quercus acutissima Carruth (Morimoto 1984) .

Distribution. China, Japan, Russia. Two male type specimens of C. transversalis examined on loan from SMTD and six C. robustus from ISNB.

Remarks. The genitalia were not examined as the only specimens available were types from the ISNB and SMTD. Morimoto (1962) presents a diagram of the median lobe of the male genitalia of this species, table 3 figure E.
