Type species. Damaeus papillipes Nicolet, 1855
Diagnosis. Small to middle-sized Damaeidae (body length usually 375-560 μm, rarely over 700 μm), coloured various shades of brown or yellowish. Propodolateral apophysis (P) present or absent. Spinae adnatae absent. Setal formula of trochanters 1-1-4-3 or 1-1-3-3, femora I and II with 10 (rarely 9) setae, femora III and IV with 9 (rarely 8) setae. Setal formula of genua 4(1)-4(1)-4(1)-4. Solenidia on tibiae II and III coupled with a companion seta (d), seta d on tibia IV absent, the respective solenidion on tibia IV long, free, tactile. Ventral accessory seta v2´absent from tarsi I-IV, setal formula of tarsi (famulus included, solenidia in parentheses) 20(2)-17(2)-17(0)-14(0). Famulus in all developmental stages "normal", setiform, emergent.
