Type genus. Cladonotus Saussure, 1862 View in CoL (type species Tettix (Cladonotus) humbertianus Saussure, 1862 ).

Distribution and composition. Tropics (S and C America; Africa and Madagascar; tropical and subtropical Asia, islands of SE Asia; Australia; and Oceania). Altogether 262 species, assigned to 74 genera and 4 tribes ( Cladonotini Bolívar, 1887 sensu Storozhenko et Paik, 2011 , Choriphyllini Cadena-Castañeda et Silva, 2019, Mucrotettigini Cadena-Castañeda et Silva, 2019, and Xerophyllini Günther, 1979 ).
