Euplocania guentherbuchi View in CoL n. sp.

( Figs 45–56 View FIGURES 45 – 50. E View FIGURES 51 – 56. E )

Diagnosis. Belonging in species group Zelayensis , of García Aldrete et al., (2013). Differing from E. zelayensis García Aldrete , in having the forewing M4 distally forked, in having the central sclerite of the hypandrium with the posterior projections lateral, slender and acuminate, in having the external sclerites of the phallosome elongate and slender, and in having the endophallic sclerites elongate and slender, with a distinct transverse piece. Differing from E. reyesi García Aldrete, González & Carrejo , in having the central sclerite of the hypandrium U shaped, with the posterior projections slender and acuminate, in having the external parameres of the phallosome slender, in the morphology of the endophallic sclerites, and in having the female ninth sternum narrow, with the posterior border straight [compare Figs 49, 50 View FIGURES 45 – 50. E , and 56 in this paper, with Figs 5, 6 View FIGURES 3 – 8. E , and 10 in García Aldrete, González & Carrejo (2013)].

Male. Color (in 80% ethanol). Body pale brown, with creamy areas, as indicated below. Head creamy, with dark brown areas as illustrated ( Fig. 47 View FIGURES 45 – 50. E ). Compound eyes black, ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents. Antennae brown, flagellomeres pale brown, with apices cream. Maxillary palps pale brown, Mx4 with distal third dark brown. Tergal lobes of meso- and metathorax dark brown. Thoracic mesopleura brown, more pigmented than pro- and metapleura. Legs: fore- and hind- coxae creamy, with small proximal and distal brown spots; mid coxae brown, trochanters and femora creamy, tibia, tarsi and apex of femora brown. Wings hyaline, veins brown, as illustrated ( Figs 45 and 46 View FIGURES 45 – 50. E ). Abdomen pale brown, with subcuticular, transverse ochre bands. Clunium and hypandrium brown. Epiproct and paraprocts pale brown, phallosome pale brown, with endophallic sclerites more pigmented.

Morphology. As in diagnosis, plus the following: Head: H/MxW: 1.38, H/d: 2.59, compound eyes large: IO/ MxW: 0.74. Vertex slightly concave in the middle. Outer cusp of lacinial tip broad, with seven denticles. Mx4/ Mx2: 1.14. Forewings ( Fig. 45 View FIGURES 45 – 50. E ) with M four-branched; M4 distally forked in the holotype, paratypes often with M of 5 branches, L/W: 2.63, pterostigma elongate: lp/wp: 6.71; areola postica tall, slightly slanted posteriorly, apex rounded, al/ah: 1.58. Hindwing ( Fig. 46 View FIGURES 45 – 50. E ): l/w: 2.83. Hypandrium of three sclerites, the central one abundantly setose, convex anteriorly, with a deep concavity posteriorly; side sclerites elongate, broadly triangular ( Fig. 49 View FIGURES 45 – 50. E ). Phallosome anteriorly Y-shaped ( Fig. 50 View FIGURES 45 – 50. E ), external parameres slender, distally rounded, bearing pores; anterior endophallic sclerites curved, distally acuminate, with proximal ends rounded, denticulate. Mesal endophallic sclerites broadly U-shaped, with a rounded protuberance in the middle of the bridge, each arm dilated mesally, curved outwards, distally acuminate; posterior pair short, curved inwards, distally bent otwards, denticulate. Paraprocts ( Fig. 48 View FIGURES 45 – 50. E ) robust, elongate, setose as illustrated, sensory fields with 30 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Epiproct wide, posteriorly rounded, straight anteriorly, setae as illustrated ( Fig. 48 View FIGURES 45 – 50. E ).
