Distribution: Cosmopolitan. The species is widely reported in all southwestern Atlantic Ocean, from intertidal to 400 m depth ( Blanco 1963 as Sertularia operculata ; Oliveira et al. 2016; Genzano et al. 2017).

Remarks: Big and mature clumps were found in all analyzed sites.
