Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 , 7 View FIGURE 7. A – E H, 8H, 16

Type material. Holotype: HBUMM-05432-specimen 1; paratypes: HBUMM-05432-specimen 2~60 (holotype and 19 paratypes were measured). Fmss in ethanol.

Type locality. 1070 m a.s.l., 32°57΄35.5΄ N, 104°40΄41.6΄ E, foot of Yuxushan hill, Wenxian County, Gansu, China, 2006-IX-27, coll. M.Wu, J.Liu, W.Zheng & L.Gao.

Distribution. Gansu (type locality).

Etymology. The new species is named after its type locally “ Wenxian ”.

Diagnosis. Shell bandless; not striate. Aperture with angular tubercle. Most swollen part at penultimate and body whorls. With 6.625–8.375 whorls; height 15.3–19.7, diam. maj. 8.0–10.6. Penis without penial caecum; internally with more than 2 more or less thick longitudinal pilasters. Papilla developed by fused proximal pilasters forming V-shaped structure absent. Epiphallus straight. Epiphallic caecum present.

Shell. Cylindrical-conic; apex protruded. Most swollen part at penultimate and body whorls. Dextral; thin; solid; semitranslucent; glossy; not speckled; never spirally grooved; with 6.625–7.481–8.375 whorls. Upper whorls normally coloured. Whorls not shouldered; convex. Embryonic shell smooth; polished; with 1.375–1.575–1.750 whorls. Postnuclear whorls smooth. Last whorl gradually ascending towards aperture; rounded at periphery. Shell 15.3–17.5–19.7 high; 8.0– 9.3–10.6 in diam. maj. Height/width ratio 1.64–1.88–2.04. Aperture ovate; not adnate; slightly oblique; not armed; with angular tubercle; height 6.9–8.0–9, width 5.1–6.4–7.2. Ratio of shell height to aperture height 2.05–2.20–2.41. Peristome reflexed, forming a distinct cuff; expanded; sharp. Parietal callus indistinct. Columellar margin reflexed. Umbilicus a narrow slit. Shell uniformly coloured in light greenish brown, aperture white.

Genitalia. Vas deferens long; of even thickness; entering epiphallus apically with distinct demarcation. Epiphallus moderately long; cylindrical and uniformly thick; normally straight; externally nearly smooth. Epiphallic caecum near vas deferens entrance; blunt apically. Flagellum somewhat long; tubular; proximally normal; with tip blunt. Penis with terminal entrance of epiphallus. Penis clavate; without penial caecum; evenly thick; thin-walled; internally with several more or less thick longitudinal pilasters; internally with 1 Vshaped pilaster. V-shaped pilaster with proximal free end approaching at penial retractor insertion. Papilla developed by distal V-shaped pilaster absent. Penial appendix long; branched off from proximal portion of penis; divided into sections including A-1+A-2, A-3 and A-4+A-5. A-1 short; interiorly with evenly arranged transversal folds. A-2 internally not structured. A-1 and A-2 fused. A-2 near A-3 internally without a ring of papilla. A-2 and A-3 not fused. A-3 opening into A-2 not by papilla. Boundary between A-4 and A-5 indistinct. A-5 long; straight. Penial retractor biramous; attaching to penis in middle part and to A-1+ A-2; with penial retractor arms arising from diaphragm closed to each other. Additional retractor other than penial or appendicular absent. Muscular band connecting vagina and epiphallus absent. Atrium short; without atrial retractor. Free oviduct moderately long; subequal to vagina in length. Vagina moderately long; not swollen; straight; not lined with loose, spongy tissue; unpigmented. Bursa copulatrix duct short; proximally straight.

Bursa copulatrix with stalk; without apical ligament; normal in size; with long neck; well defined. Diverticle longer than reservoir; almost unexpanded. Bursa copulatrix and diverticle distinguishable; forked more distally from their base. Spermatophore unknown.

Measurement of genitalia. P: 3.9; Ep: 8.9; Fl: 1.7; VD: 14.5; Va: 4.2; FO: 3.3; BCD: 5.5; BC: 2; D: 6.3; A- 1+A-2: 3.4; A3: 1.7; A-4+A-5: 16.1 (in Holotype, HBUMM-05432-specimen 1).

Habitat. The species lives on the slakes covered by mosses and lichens in the foot of Yuxushan Hill, which is located among the higher mountains along the bank of Bailongjiang River.

Remarks. Conchologically, the species is most close to P. anocamptus , and their shell features are quite different with other congeneric species. Compared to the latter species, the new species has no papilla formed by distal V-shape pilasters. The new species is anatomically most close to the type species P. pupinidius , by sharing the features of the occurrence of epiphallic caecum (with the quite different relative distance from epiphallic caecum to vas deferens), several penial pilasters and straight epiphallus, and the absence of both penial caecum and the papilla formed by the V-shaped pilasters within penis.
