Distribution. S Gansu (type locality).

Type locality: Shypu am Puiho, River Lum-pu (S Gansu, China).

Diagnosis: Shell bandless; striate. Aperture with angular tubercle. Most swollen part at penultimate and body whorls. With 6.250–7.000 whorls; height 20.2–24.8, diam. maj. 10.8–13.1. Penis without penial caecum; internally with more than two fine longitudinal pilasters. Papilla developed by fused proximal pilasters forming V-shaped structure present. Epiphallus forming numerous loops. Epiphallic caecum absent.

Re-description of shell. Cylindrical-conic; Shell slightly apex protruded. Most swollen part at penultimate and body whorls. Shell dextral; thin; solid; opaque; glossy; more or less speckled (below apex); not spirally grooved; with 6.250–6.740–7.000 whorls. Growth lines usually not very clear. Whorls not shouldered; more or less flattened. Embryonic shell smooth; polished; with 1.375–1.538–1.750 whorls. Postnuclear whorls smooth. Suture normal, without narrow defined zone on beneath whorl. Last whorl gradually ascending towards aperture; rounded at periphery; without smoothed spiral peripheral depression nor rugate region. Shell 20.9–22.9–24.8 high; 11.3–12.1– 13.1 in diam. maj. Height/width ratio 1.76–1.90–2.07. Aperture in a plane; completely attached to body whorl; truncate-ovate; not adnate; slightly oblique; not armed; distinctly with angular tubercle; 10.0–10.7–12.1 high; 7.2–8.0–8.8 wide. Ratio of shell height to aperture height 2.04–2.15–2.28. Peristome strongly reflexed, without distinct cuff; expanded; sharp. Parietal callus indistinct. Columellar margin slightly reflexed. Columella arched. Outer edge of columellar lip vertical. Umbilicus narrowly open. Apical whorls normally coloured. Shell multicoloured; with dark chestnut background, below apex along growth lines with irregularly distributed thick or thin white stripes, which are sometimes densely spaced. Aperture reddish brown; not brightly banded; spirally without colour band.

Re-description of genitalia. Vas deferens indistinctly swollen in middle portion; entering epiphallus apically with distinct demarcation. Epiphallus rather long; cylindrical; of uniform thickness; forming numerous loops; externally smooth. Epiphallic caecum absent. Flagellum short; tubular; proximally normal; with tip blunt. Penis clavate; without penial caecum; distally enlarged; thin-walled; internally with more than 2 fine longitudinal pilasters. Other structure absent. Penis internally V-shaped pilaster with proximal free end approaching at penial retractor insertion. Papilla developed by fused distal pilasters forming V-shaped structure present. Penial process low sac-like; situated at boundary between epiphallus and penis. Penial verge absent. Penial appendix moderately long; branched off from penis at some distance from atrium; divided into sections including A-1+A-2, A-3 and A-4+A-5. A-1 short; interiorly with evenly arranged transversal folds. A-1 and A-2 fused. A-3 opening into A-2 by a long needle-like papilla. Boundary between A-4 and A-5 indistinct. A-5 short; straight. Penial retractor biramous; attaching to penis distally and to A-2 of penial appendix; with arms of penial retractor arising from diaphragm closed to each other. Additional retractor rather than penial or appendicular absent. Muscular band connecting vagina and epiphallus absent. Atrium short; without retractor. Free oviduct longer than vagina. Vagina very short; not swollen; straight; not lined with loose, spongy tissue; unpigmented. Bursa copulatrix duct rather long; proximally strongly twisted. Bursa copulatrix with stalk; without apical ligament; small; with short neck; poorly defined. Diverticle normally present; longer than reservoir; terminally expanded. Bursa copulatrix and diverticle quite indistinguishable; forked more distally from their base.

Measurement of genitalia. P: 5.1; Ep: 26.3; Fl: 0.8; VD: 4.2; Va: 2.3; FO: 3.3; BCD: 28; BC: 1.6; D: 7.5; A-1+A-2: 3.1; A3: 1.4; A-4+A-5: 12.6 (in HBUMM-05577-specimen 1).

Remarks. The specimens of new collection show the fewer whorl number as 6.25–7 than 7.5 in the original description ( Moellendorff 1901). The fresh specimens are distinctly slenderer than types in shell build. However, the large overlap for the value of height/diam. maj. of the fresh specimens and the types demonstrates they belong to the same subspecies.
