Until now, this rare species was known only from the type series collected by Mark and Stephen Deyrup at Daniel Boone National Forest, Kentucky, although from a rather different type of habitat ( Deyrup 1998). Recently Doug Booher has discovered a single North Carolina specimen among S. missouriensis materials at MCZ (D. Booher pers. comm. to K. Ivanov).
