Locus typicus: “Arabia, Djidda” [N21°32'; E39°10' – Saudi Arabia].

Holotype: 1Ψ: (1) round yellow label, possibly with faded writing on the upper side, the underside with the number “288 39”; (2) “ Myopa arabica / [illegible text] / n. sp.”; (3) “ Holotypus ”, “ Myopa arabica / Macquart, 1850 Ψ / J.-H. Stuke, 2003”. —[The holotype is badly soiled and the dusting pattern is incapable of certain recognition. The wing membrane is brownish tinged, but this is a contaminant. The holotype is deposited at MNHN, and was loaned to JHS for examination].
