Type locality: ‘les mers de Chine’.

Label locality: ‘China Seas’.

Type material: 2 probable syntypes NHMUK 20140786 (H. Cuming collection). Remarks: The specimens present in the collection (46 mm and 32 mm) are appreciably smaller than originally described (57 mm).
