Number of specimens recorded. 44.

Distribution. Europe; also North Africa. Portugal: four northern provinces.

Ecology. Hercostomus germanus has been recorded from most macrohabitat categories in Portugal, except for the littoral zone and the dunes. In northwestern and central Europe, it is mainly found on Apiaceae (often Daucus carota ) in sunny sites along trails in open forests ( Pollet 2000).

Rarity (%). 8.0 (fairly rare). Extremely rare (FL).

Activity period. May–September, with peak in June.
