Euplocania kakwa n. sp. Male

( Figs 7–12 View FIGURES 7–12 )

Diagnosis. Belonging in species group bonaverensis , of González, García Aldrete, Carrejo & Panche (2018). Forewing venation, hypandrium and phallosome similar to those of E. nukak n. sp., from which it differs in having the areola postica of the forewing more slender, in having the lateral median processes of the hypandrium shorter, in having the median processes of the hypandrium shorter and stouter and in having the endophallic sclerites larger and overlapping mesally, with basal processes directed outward and posteriorly.

Color (of mounted parts in the slide). Head ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 7–12 ) brown with mask-like pattern of dark brown spots. Compounds eyes dark brown, ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents; genae dark brown; anteclypeus and postclypeus dark brown; maxillary palps brown, Mx 1 pale brown. Legs: Coxae dark brown, trochanters cream, tibiae and tarsi light brown, fore- and mid- femora brown, hind- femora brown, light brown distally. Forewings ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 7–12 ) hyaline, veins brown, with brown spots at veins ends; pterostigma with proximal and distal dark brown bands; cells cu1 and cu2 with dark brown areas. Hindwings ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 7–12 ) hyaline, veins brown, with brown spots at veins ends. Hypandrium brown with light median posterior border. Epiproct and paraprocts light brown.

Morphology. Head: H/MxW: 3.59. Compound eyes medium-sized, H/D: 2.5; IO/MxW: 0.2. Outer cusp of lacinial tips broad, with five denticles. Forewings: L/W: 2.37. Pterostigma wider medially: lp/wp: 1.5, areola postica slender, with rounded apex: al/ah: 1.14. M four branched, M 4 forked. Hypandrium ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 7–12 ), anterior border convex; central section projected postero-medially and laterally, lateral posterior projections short, pointed; median projections stout, slightly curved. Phallosome ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 7–12 ), side struts Y-shaped; external parameres distally broad, bearing pores, apically rounded, border with small denticles; four pairs of endophallic sclerites, anterior pair articulated to lateral sclerites, each consisting of two elongate, acuminate sclerite that converge on the mesal sclerite; lateral sclerites elongate; antero-median sclerites elongate, sinuous, apically attached to a posterior sclerite, this proximally directed inward, distally acuminate and curved inward, pair of mesal sclerites curved, anteriorly narrow, wider in the middle, with a small anterior process, distally acuminate. Paraprocts ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 7–12 ) with rows of sub-apical setae, distally with setae and macrosetae, two of these spatulate as illustrated; sensory fields with 25 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Epiproct semioval, posteriorly convex, setae as illustrated.
