11. * Mimosa chacoensis Barneby & Fortunato

Known to Barneby (1991) only from the type locality in the Chaco of west-central Paraguay. A single collection (J. Pensiero & G. Marino 4379, NY) from Chuquisaca determined by Barneby in 1994, is apparently the first record for Bolivia. Four additional collections (J.R.I. Wood & D. Villarroel 25467, J.R.I. Wood & Pozo 25985, J.R.I. Wood et al. 26573, J.R.I. Wood et al. 26582, LPB, K) from near Rincón del Tigre as well as collections from near Roboré (J.R.I. Wood & M. Mendoza 27317, LPB, K) and from Cordillera Province (Fuentes 3384, USZ) confirm that this species is widespread and locally abundant on sandy soils in open ruderal habitats around the fringes of the Chaco, and is thus well named.
