Material. Holotype male imago, RUSSIA, SAKHALINSKAYA OBLAST’, Kunashir Island , south-western part, Kunashirsky Strait, Cape Ivanovsky, Kurilsky Reserve, un-named stream, 43°50ʹ13.42ʹʹN, 145°24ʹ16.56ʹʹE, 01.X.2013, Y. Sundukov . Paratypes: collected together with the holotype: 1 female imago; same place, 22.IX.2014, 1 male, 1 female imagines, Y. Sundukov.

Description. Male imago (in alcohol). Length (mm): body 6.5–7.5; forewings 6.7–7.8; cerci 10.2–10.4. Head: General color dark brown. Antennae brownish; ocelli whitish apically and black basally. Upper portion of compound eyes brownish or grayish-brown; low portion dark; compound eyes widely separated ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 3 ). Thorax: General color brown. Medioscutum brown; submedioscutum dirty brown; lateroparapsidal suture dark; posterior scutal protuberance brown with darker lateral sides; scuto-scutellar impression dirty brown; scutellum dark brown; parascutellum dark; median longitudinal suture narrow and dark brown ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 3 ). Wings pale, hyaline; longitudinal veins of fore wings brown; transverse veins pale, almost invisible; field between C and Sc, Sc and R milky; all veins of hind wings pale and invisible. Femora and tibia of forelegs brown; tarsal segments light brown. Middle and hind legs light brown, femur slightly darker ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 3 ). Length (mm) of foreleg segments: femora 2.0‒2.2; tibia 2.3‒2.6; tarsal segments 1.1, 1.0‒1.2, 0.8‒0.9, 0.3, and 0.1. Abdomen: Terga with contrasting pattern ( Figs 2–3 View FIGURES 1 – 3 ): tergum I black; terga II–VII black with pale translucent anterior margins and pair of pale oblique spots; lateral sides with dark tracheal trunk; terga VIII– IX almost completely black, darker than other terga ( Figs 2‒3 View FIGURES 1 – 3 ). Abdominal sternum I brownish; sterna II–VII pale, translucent; sterna VIII–IX matte tinged brownish, nontransparent. Nerve ganglia light brown, visible on segments II–VII. Cerci brownish or yellowish, tips lighter, joints dark brown ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 3 ). Genitalia: Styliger matte tinged brownish, somewhat lighter in anterior area, gonostyli light brown. Styliger with V-shaped incision; ends of process slightly elongated ( Figs 4‒5 View FIGURES 4 – 9 ). Gonostylus with 1 st segment widest at the base; 2rd segment identical width over the whole length; 3rd segment slightly widened apically; 4th segment oval, smallest ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 4 – 9 ). Penis lobes separated by U-shaped cleft reaching 1/3 of penis length; apexes of penis lobes rounded ( Figs 5, 8 View FIGURES 4 – 9 ), each penis lobe with ventral appendage slightly curved, extended and blunt distally, directed proximally and reaching proximal 1/2 of the penis ( Figs 6‒8 View FIGURES 4 – 9 ).

Female imago (in alcohol). Length (mm): body 7.0; forewing 7.8. Head: General color light brown. Antennae light brown or yellowish; ocelli brown apically, black basally.

Thorax: General color brown. Medioscutum and submedioscutum light brown; all sutures brown; median longitudinal suture dark brown; parascutellum dark brown or black. Wings pale, hyaline. All veins from brownish to yellowish on the light backdrop and from yellowish to pale poorly visible on the black background. Whole field between C and Sc and distal half of field between Sc and R are milky. Legs brownish or yellowish, joints brown. Length (mm) of foreleg segments: femora 1.6; tibia 1.8; tarsal segments 0.3, 0.25, 0.2, 0.2, and 0.1. Abdomen: Terga brown with a pair of light oblique strokes in the middle anterior part; lateral sides light brown; posterior margins black; all terga with light, narrow, weakly expressed, median strip. Sterna I, IV, V and VI brown, other darker and tinged black. Subanal plate with deep V-shaped incision, apexes are rounded ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 4 – 9 ). Cerci lost.

Eggs. General shape oval 140–146 µm length and 71–75 µm width ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 10 – 12 ). Chorion densely covered with small tubercles ( Figs 10‒11 View FIGURES 10 – 12 ). One or two small round micropyles located in middle area ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 10 – 12 ). Sperm guide absent; ridge along the micropylar opening is not closed ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 10 – 12 ).

Etymology. The name refers to the type locality, the Kunashir Island.
