The genus Hymenobelba Balogh, 1962 View in CoL
The genus ( Hymenobelba Balogh, 1962 was established based on specimens from Madagascar. Among the species assigned to this genus H. annulus Balogh et Mahunka, 1966 , H. coarctata Balogh et Mahunka, 1966 , H. flagellata Covarrubias, 1967 , H. ramulosa Covarrubias, 1967 , H. diversisetosa Luxton, 1988 ) do not belong in this genus because J. Balogh & P. Balogh (1992) relegated H. flagellata in the newly erected genus Ctenamerus J. et P. Balogh, 1992, and H. annulus as type species for the genus Haplamerus J. et P. Balogh, 1992. Subías (2009) accepted the latter opinion, however he considered the other mentioned species as the original genus Hymenobelba .
In my opinion— without a thorough study of the specimens—this point of view is acceptable. However, I propose classifying Hymenobelba coarctata in the genus Haplamerus [ Haplamerus coarctatus (Balogh et Mahunka, 1966) comb. n.] and Hymenobelba ramulosa in the genus Ctenamerus [ Ctenamerus ramulosa (Covarrubias, 1967) comb. n.]. The position of Hymenobelba diversisetosa Luxton, 1988 remains questionable.
