Comments. In the checklist of genus-group and family-group names of Nepomorpha, Štys & Jansson (1988) synonymized the subgenus Naucorisella Poisson, 1949 with Naucoris Geoffroy, 1762 and considered it to be an invalid taxon. No justification was given to consider it permanently invalid; thus, I here resurrect Naucorisella stat. rev. as a valid genuslevel taxon with Naucoris parvulus Signoret, 1860 as the type species; Afronaucoris (type species Naucoris obscuratus Montandon, 1913 ) is thereby considered a junior subjective synonym. The synonymy of Afronaucoris under Naucorisella has no influence on the availability and validity of the tribe Afronaucorini Sites, 2022 , of which it is the type genus (see ICZN 1999: Art. 40.1). The established synonymy results in the following new combinations:

Naucorisella ciliatistyla (Linnavuori, 1971) , comb. nov.

Naucorisella fuscipennis (Schaum, 1853) , comb. nov.

Naucorisella kenyalis (Poisson, 1949) , comb. nov.

Naucorisella madagascariensis (Montandon, 1899) , comb. nov.

Naucorisella obscurata (Montandon, 1913) , comb. nov.

Naucorisella parvula (Signoret, 1860) , comb. nov.

Naucorisella perezii (Bolívar, 1879) , comb. nov.

Naucorisella plana (Germar, 1838) , comb. nov.
