Saccharodite modesta Zelazny View in CoL , sp. nov.
( Fig. 273)
Description. Forewings 1.9 times longer than wide, length: male 3.0– 4.4 mm (mean = 3.6, n = 17), female 3.6–4.5 mm (mean = 4.0, n = 14). Colour white to stramineous; abdomen faintly tinted with orange. Some specimens (but not holotype) with faint red marks in front of eyes and at sides of pronotum, next to hind margin. Forewings lightly powdered; very faintly infuscated from apex of Cu to base of Ms1, around base of Ms2, and along apical crossveins; veins colourless to stramineous; a short section of costal margin adjoining last subcostal sector orange-red (in some specimens faint); base of Sc+R with 3 dark spots. Hindwings colourless. In profile junction of vertex and face rounded; subantennal processes not connected to margins of facial carinae; rostrum surpassing post trochanter. Forewings with Sc+R fork slightly before middle of wing; basal median cell slightly wider than basal cell between Sc+R and M; a triangle at base of Ms1 (in some specimens missing). Male genitalia with pygofer narrow. Genital styles oval; proximal dorsal process short and slender; distal dorsal process elongated. Apical part of aedeagus short, its left side extending into a membranous, terminal lobe.
Etymology. The species name is a Latin adjective (modestus, -a, -um = moderate).

Distribution. New Guinea.
Diagnosis. Saccharodite modesta resembles closely Sa. nervosa sp. nov., also from New Guinea. However, it has lighter forewing infuscation and veins, as well as an orange-red section on the costa. It can be distinguished from Sa. basipunctulata (Melichar) , which also occurs in New Guinea, by its larger size, the last subcostal sector in the forewings being uncoloured, and by the triangle at the base of Ms1.
