AUSTRALIA, WESTERN AUSTRALIA: NMV J55004 , 1 male (cl. 13.6 mm), off Ningaloo North, 21°55.06–55.18´S, 113°36.30–34.98´E, 1260–1295 m, 12 Dec. 2005 (stn SS10/2005/168) (acq. 002); NMV J57250 , 1 male (cl. 18.6 mm), 2 females (cl. 15.4 mm, 16.6 mm), Leveque L27 transect,14°33.06–33.58´S, 121°15.36–16.58´E, 1021–1023 m, 4 Jul 2007 (stn SS05/2007/155) (acq. 022); NMV J57251 , 1 female (cl. 15.1 mm), Barrow L1 transect, 20°57.15–57.56´S, 114°00.15–00.56´E, 1000 m, 4 Jul 2007 (stn SS05/2007/002) (acq. 036).

Type locality. Australia, NSW, E of Broken Bay, 33°34–31´S, 152°02–04´E, 905– 914 m. Remarks. See remarks for M. dasypus . The new material extends the known range for this species in Australian waters.

Distribution. South Africa, Australia (New South Wales, Western Australia), New Caledonia, Chesterfield Islands, Vanuatu, Wallis and Futuna Islands, Solomon Islands, South China Sea (Dongsha) and Taiwan; 476–1313 m.
