Mesonotum slightly longer than pronotum. Hind tibia with 2 macrosetae on row PD.

Male genitalia. Pygofer about as long as height in lateral view, with short ventral process near posterodorsal angle dorsally produced with acute apex, exceeding dorsal margin, ventral margin convexly rounded. Style slender, apophysis curved ventrally subapically, narrowed to acute apex. Aedeagus with well-developed dorsal apodeme; shaft more or less of uniform width till distal 0.2 length in lateral view, directed posteriorly and then dorsally curved, in distal 0.2 ventral margin slightly insinuated, shaft laterally angularly projected slightly at apex, without other processes, gonopore subapical on dorsal surface. Segment X with ventroposterior prolongation well-developed.

Measurements. Male 5.9 mm long, 2.0 mm wide across eyes and 2.3 mm wide across posterolateral angles of pronotum.

Material examined. HOLOTYPE ♂, INDIA: [Tamil Nadu:], Kodaikanal , T. V. Campbell, B.M. 1928–478, on reverse of the card carrying specimen “KK. 5.17” ( BMNH) . PARATYPE ♀, same data as holotype except on reverse of the card carrying specimen “KK. 5.16” ( BMNH) .

Etymology. This species is named after the first word of the locality (Kodai) where it lives.

Remarks. M. kodaiensis sp. nov. is peculiar in having the apical region of the shaft sinuate and apex of the shaft with short angular projections laterally. It can be distinguished externally by the red punctations anteriorly and laterally on the pronotum.
