Description
Summer green perennial, hydrophyte; aquatic state spreading-erect with capillary leaves only (myriophyllid), terrestrial state not seen. Shoots up to 80 cm long, 3 mm in diameter, green, glabrous, internodes of the middle part of the shoot longer than adjacent leaf. Laminar leaves absent. Intermediate leaves absent. Capillary leaves present, alternate, 20–50 mm long, obconical to suborbicular, green, glabrous, segments flaccid to subrigid, divergent, middle part shorter than the lateral ones, length between first and second bifurcation 3–10 mm, number of the lamina divisions 3–5, number of final segments up to 80; petiole 1–20 mm long. Stipules for ca. 2/3 adnate to the petiole, with short hairs, apex obtuse. Peduncles 20–80 mm long, curved, glabrous. Sepals 5, 4–5 mm long, ovate to elliptical, greenish, reflexed. Petals 5, 7–12 mm long, ovate to obovate, pale yellow, not contiguous during late anthesis. Nectar pits 1 per petal, lunate. Stamens 15–25. Carpels 20–40, 0.8–2.0 × 0.6–1.2 mm, obovate, glabrous, style lateral or subterminal, caducous. Receptacles subglobose, pubescent.—Chromosome number. 2n = 16.
