Rhinolophus trifoliatus Temminck, 1834 View in CoL
Temminck, C.J. (1838) Over een Geslacht der Vleugelhandige Zoogdieren, Bladneus genaamd ( Rhinolophus Geoff., Cuv., Illig., Desm. ; Vespertilio Linn., Erxleb. ; Noctilio Kuhl ). Tijdschrift voor Natuurlijke Geschiedenis en Physiologie, 1: 24 [1–30].
Valid name: Rhinolophus trifoliatus Temminck, 1834
Syntype (marked with type * by Peters): ZMB 3280 View Materials , skin, skull not extracted, female; Java, Indonesia; collected by Müller, ex RMNH .
Comment: ZMB 3280 in the general catalogue is annotated [by Peters] to be an original specimen of the description. Jentink (1888: 160) mentioned only one type specimen from Bantam, Java, leg./coll. Kuhl & van Hasselt, in the RMNH. Since Temminck used two specimens from Bantam, Java, collected by the “Naturkuundige Commissie in Oost-Indie” for his description, ZMB 3280 View Materials is probably the second syntype .
