Valid name: Tadarida brasiliensis (I. Geoffroy St. Hilaire, 1824)
Syntypes: ZMB 2457 View Materials [a–d] (four specimens), bodies in alcohol, skulls extracted, two males, adults and two females, adults . ZMB 2482 View Materials , skin, skull not extracted, male, adult. All specimens from Cuba; collected by J. Gundlach.
Comment: The species name apparently is a replacement name for Rhinopoma carolinense Gundlach 1840: 358 (certainly not Vespertilio carolinensis E. Geoffroy 1806 ), for which no typical specimens could be found in ZMB.
