Valid name: Mormopterus planiceps ( Peters, 1866)

Paralectotype: ZMB 3101 , body in alcohol, skull not extracted, female; Australia; collected by A. Becker, in exchange from SMF via Rüppell.

Comment: Of the two syntypes one remained in Berlin the other, which was designated as the lectotype ( Mertens 1925: 20), was returned to Rüppell (SMF 4283). Iredale & Troughton (1934) indicate “probably New South Wales, Sydney” as the type locality.
