Valid name: Cynomops planirostris ( Peters, 1865)

Lectotype (designated by Carter & Dolan 1978: 86): ZMB 2513 , body in alcohol, skull extracted, male, adult; Cayenne, French Guiana; collected by Schomburgk, between 1835 and 1844.

Comment: According to Cabrera (1958: 119) and Husson (1962: 231), the original description was based on specimens from various localities and countries: i) British Guyana, ii) Barra do Rio Negro, Brazil, and iii) Buenos Aires, Argentina, hence Cayenne seems to be doubtful.
