Euconnus (s. str.) tananarivensis Franz View in CoL , stat rev.
Euconnus (Anthicimorphus) tananarivensis Franz, 1986b: 247 View in CoL .
Horaeomorphus tananarivensis (Franz) View in CoL ; Jałoszyński (2014b): 12 (result of placing Anthicimorphus as junior synonym of Horaeomorphus View in CoL ).
Remarks. This species was described on the basis of a single specimen. The holotype is deposited in Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris and was not available for my study. This species was described as somewhat similar to Euconnus (Tetramelus) vulgaris , but the pronotum broadest near middle and equally narrowing posteriorly and anteriorly excludes it from Tetramelus . In fact, the aedeagus of E. tananarivensis , illustrated in Franz (1986b): fig. 221, is highly similar to copulatory organs of many species placed in the same monograph in Euconnus (Euconophron) (Euconophron is a junior synonym of Euconnus s. str.; see ( Jałoszyński 2022)). The aedeagus of E. tananarivensis has a clearly bifurcate apex, a character thought to be one of important diagnostic features of Euconophron (e.g., Vít (2005a)). I do not find in the Franz’s description any characters that would place this species in any other genus and subgenus but Euconnus (s. str.).
Distribution. Central Madagascar (Analamanga Region).
