( Figs 240–247 View FIGURES 240–247 )

Euconnus (Anthicimorphus) anthiciformis Franz, 1986b: 238 . Preoccupied, not Euconnus anthiciformis Franz, 1967: 652 . Horaeomorphus anthicimadagascanus Jałoszyński (2014b): 12 View in CoL . New name for Euconnus anthiciformis Franz, 1986b: 238 , and result of placing Anthicimorphus as junior synonym of Horaeomorphus View in CoL .

Type material studied. Holotype ( Madagascar): ♂, four labels: “Massif de l’An- / karatra,Madagaskar / lg. H.Franz 1969” [white, printed], “ Euconnus anthiciformis m. / det. H.Franz ” [yellowish, handwritten and printed], “ ♂ ” [white, printed], “Typus” [red, handwritten] ( NHMW).

Revised diagnosis. Body ( Fig. 240 View FIGURES 240–247 ) slender, dorsum impunctate and asetose; head ( Figs 241–242 View FIGURES 240–247 ) round, with vertex posteriorly almost straight; pronotum bell-shaped, broadest between middle and anterior third, with two pairs of small round antebasal pits; antenna ( Fig. 243 View FIGURES 240–247 ) slender but short, with antennomeres 1–9 each elongate (9 weakly so) and 10 as long as broad; aedeagus ( Figs 244–247 View FIGURES 240–247 ) in ventral view drop-shaped, broadest slightly proximal to middle, ventral apical wall broadly subtriangular with sinuate lateral margins and projecting tip, dorsal apical wall narrowly subtriangular with rounded apex, each paramere slender, not broadened, with three long apical setae, of which one is shorter than others.

Redescription. Body of male ( Fig. 240 View FIGURES 240–247 ) strongly elongate and flattened, head and pronotum moderately dark brown, elytra, legs except tarsi and antennae indistinctly lighter, tarsi and palps slightly lighter than elytra; setae yellowish; BL 1.88 mm.

Head ( Figs 241–242 View FIGURES 240–247 ) in anterodorsal view round, about as long as broad, broadest at eyes, HL 0.33 mm, HW 0.33 mm; temple in lateral view ( Fig. 242 View FIGURES 240–247 ) about as long as eye; vertex and frons confluent, together weakly convex and about as long as broad; vertex posteriorly indistinctly rounded, almost straight; each eye large and weakly convex, with shallowly concave posterior margin. Frons and vertex impunctate and asetose. Antenna ( Fig. 243 View FIGURES 240–247 ) slender but short, as long as half BL, gradually thickened distally, AnL 0.93 mm, antennomeres 1–9 each elongate (9 weakly so) and 10 as long as broad, 11 distinctly longer than 10 and indistinctly broader, about 1.7 times as long as broad.

Pronotum bell-shaped, broadest between middle and anterior third; PL 0.45 mm, PW 0.40 mm. Anterior margin strongly rounded, lateral margins strongly rounded in anterior half, weakly sinuate in posterior half; posterior corners blunt; posterior margin nearly weakly arcuate. Base with two pairs of small round pits. Disc impunctate and asetose.

Elytra together oval, broadest near middle; EL 1.10 mm, EW 0.68 mm, EI 1.63; humeral calli angulate and weakly elevated, basal elytral foveae vestigial but discernible. Elytra impunctate and asetose.

Legs long and slender, unmodified.

Aedeagus ( Figs 244–247 View FIGURES 240–247 ) stout, AeL 0.33 mm; in ventral view drop-shaped, broadest slightly proximal to middle, distally gradually narrowing; ventral apical wall broadly subtriangular with sinuate lateral margins and tip projecting as narrow subtriangular distal process with rounded apical margin, dorsal apical wall forming narrowly subtriangular process narrower than ventral apical wall, with rounded distal margin, endophallic sclerites complex and asymmetrical; each paramere slender, bearing three long apical setae, of which one is shorter than others.

Female. Unknown.

Distribution. Central Madagascar (Vakinankaratra Region).

Remarks. Euconnus anthicimadagascanus can be distinguished from all remaining Malagasy Tetramelus spp. by impunctate, asetose and slender body, round head, gradually thickened antennae with antennomeres 1–9 each elongate (9 weakly so) and 10 as long as broad, two pairs of antebasal pronotal pits, and unique aedeagal structures.
